Our Inspiration

Here’s a little background on our inspiration and the site’s namesake…
“Thelma” is the name of Miah’s paternal grandmother, a woman who earned a Masters degree in the 1920’s, volunteered for decades as a nutritionist with women of Wisconsin’s Winnebago tribe and always seemed to have multiple community, neighborhood, church and civic projects going at once. I’m also told she had a ’64 Thunderbird – maroon with white leather interior!
Both Cindy and Miah grew up watching their parents and grandparents make the world better through their own civic leadership and hands-on volunteer work. At the time it wasn’t called “community service” or “volunteering”– it was simply what people did to make other people’s lives and their communities better.
Together, we dedicate this site to anyone who does a little or a lot of good everyday for someone else – just because!
